The 48th in a series of illustrations focusing on the team’s kits, rather than the players that wear them. This illustration celebrates the Black Cats’ 7th-place finish on the back of Kevin Phillips’ first season in the top flight where he scored 30 league goals to win the European Golden Shoe. He remains the only Englishman to have won the award.
